US Credit Upheaval Hurts One California Stem-Cell Facility; Others Left Unscathed

Despite securing a $20.5 million grant from Californias stem-cell agency to start building a new facility, the Buck Institute for Age Research last week blamed the troubled US credit markets for its failure to raise the additional capital it needs for the $41 million project. Meantime, six California schools have begun constructing their facilities and two more said they plan to by January.
